Grant Brothers share special moment
Brothers Mitch and Josh Grant have played in their first premiership together, marking a special moment for the duo.
Josh Grant broke into the team this year, his first year out of the under-17s, and never looked back. The 18-year-old had a fantastic season for the club. His brother, Mitch, was a premiership player last year, and the 23-year-old is now a two-time premiership player.
Due to the age gap, they haven't played much football together, and on Saturday, they celebrated their most significant feat yet.
Josh said it was an unreal feeling.
"It has been unreal to be able to put together a solid season in senior footy, and to win the flag, especially with my brother, is just unreal," Josh said.
"I can't say what it feels like to play a grand final with him, and to win one is even more special.
"It couldn't be a more perfect season coming out of the under-17s, putting an entire season together and then winning a premiership with my brother. That just sealed it, and it's unreal."
Mitch said they had a big sibling rivalry when they were younger until they grew up and matured.
"It's unreal. The amount of hours we spent in the backyard, kicking the footy together has come to fruition," Mitch said.
"As Josh said, we haven't played together much, and putting it together in the senior team with a great group of blokes is special.
"Josh and I have a great relationship, and it's very special. Jai Thompson is a terrific coach who leads us well, and we have some amazing leaders in the team, such as the Close boys [Michael, Simon and Anthony] and Nick Pekin, and it's special to learn from them and play under them."
