This initiative fits under the “Access for All Abilities” program (inclusive sport & recreation for all abilities), which is funded by Sport & Recreation Victoria.

“The club is an ideal central regional location that is fully accessible and also has the right
equipment to assist participants with limited mobility for the game of bowls,” Rhonda said.

Maurie and his team of eleven other club volunteers made everyone feel welcome. Thank you to Matt Jolly and “V” (Vedang) Ovalekar from Wimmera Regional Sports Assembly, who were also present to assist with the day, which was excellent.

Bowls Vic could not attend but provided every participant with a “Certificate of Participation” to take home.

Participants from Stawell, St Arnaud, Nhill, Ararat, Warracknabeal, and Horsham attended. After a delicious morning tea supplied by the bowling ladies, Rhonda then welcomed everyone before the participants moved out to the greens.

The bowling was an informal, no-pressure activity where everyone enjoyed social interaction while trying out their bowling skills. The weather was perfect for the outdoor activity.

Following the play, everyone enjoyed a BBQ lunch and fresh fruit platters, which were also catered for by the club.

Rhonda thanked all involved and everyone for attending, especially the club volunteers of the St Arnaud Bowling Club. Overall, 74 people participated in the event, which was excellent.

Before everyone left, the club did three lucky door ticket draws for those who attended. Three lucky people got their entrance money of $10 back, so a big thank you to the club for the generosity that added to the day.

A great day was had by all, and I hope to see more attend the 2026 event.
